As I look back at my high school years, I realize how much I have been procrastinating. These past years have been great but I feel I have not been making the progress I wanted to. I have put off many work and focused on only certain classes when I should be focused on all seven of them. Over the past years I have made the mistake of missing school or being distracted by peers in class. My freshman and sophomore year were mostly fun and games but they came with a price. That price is that now I must work harder than ever to get caught up in my classes. Junior year has been hard this first semester but I am thankful that I am now in classes with teachers who push me to work hard and try my best. This year I was given a challenge and I decided to accept it which is to get on pace in all seven of my classes. I have put off work by telling myself I can just do it later but now I am trying to live by a new motto, “why do tomorrow, what you can do today. One lesson I have learned from my experiences is that you cannot just do what you want because first you must earn it by working hard and being dedicated to it. These years have been fun meeting new people and having teachers which push people hard to complete work. It has been many amazing school years which have also had struggles but it would be foolish to give up with such little time left after all my hard work. I have learned to recognize that the teachers that give the most work and are more disciplinary are the ones who truly care about their student’s future. My classes started off badly this year because I was behind pace but things have started to get better with the help I am receiving from my teachers. I have recognized that I will need all my classes not only to graduate but also as a resource for life after I graduate. I have chosen the career pathway of cabinet making and design. For this pathway I will need math and wood shop classes which I am currently enrolled in both. One thing that encouraged me to work harder is that I look back and see all my efforts I have done throughout all my school years and I see that I am not only doing this for me but also for my family, so I can show my younger siblings that it is possible to accomplish anything if you put your mind to it. I think it is important to work hard and never give up because every good thing comes with a price and that price is the blood and sweat of the hard work that proves you deserve only the best. I think I have been fortunate to have an education and people who care and push me too work hard. I have been in school for over a decade already and I must say that my junior year has been the biggest challenge so far.
